Pratapgad Fort is a mountain fort built by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The fort is at a distance of 24 km from the hill station of Mahabaleshwar. The fort holds a sturdy view of coastal Konkan. The Bhavani Temple and Afzal Khan’s tomb are other places of interest.
The temple of Bhavani is on the eastern side of the lower fort. Outside the Bhavani temple is a leaden covering put up by the Satara Raja Pratapsinh.
Dedicated to Maharana Pratap the valiant fighter, the garden is one of the few gardens in the Peth area.The garden has a nice play area and seats in the play area for parent to sit while supervision. The play area equipment is in very good shape and so is most of the garden.
Afzal Khan Tomb
The tomb where Afzal Khan’s head was buried beneath the tower bears his name, Afzal Buruj. A Dargah of Afzal Khan is constructed away from the fort to the southeast of the Afzal Buruj, where an Urs (fair) is held annually in the month of January or February.
